What Size Bounce House Should I Rent?
Renting a bounce house should not be a difficult decision. Unfortunately many times it can be. There are many different things that you need to consider when renting. One of the first questions that you may ask is, “What size bounce house should I rent?”
The most important factor to consider when renting a bounce house is the measurements of the are that you are looking at for the setup. That will often drive the size of the inflatable you can rent. Remember to measure length and width, but don’t forget to look at height! Look for things like tree limbs and building overhangs. An inflatable should not touch overhead hazards, as this could damage the unit.
There are many different sizes out there that you could possibly rent. Sizes range from 8′ wide to over 20′ wide. So which one is right for you?
Everyone has likely seen the really small bounce units that are sold in large retail stores. These units are NOT supposed to be rented commercially. Keep an eye out for these units, as they are not safe for large events or parties where there are going to be more than just a few kids. Save your money and rent a commercial grade unit.
Most of the smaller bounce houses, like the 8′ wide types, are intended for areas where space is tight, like indoors. These units are often used for much smaller children, and cannot carry the number of kids that a larger unit would.
Many rental companies carry the standard sized 13′ by 13′ bounce houses. These are a great size for most parties, and again are intended for backyards where the space may be tight.
The best overall size for a bounce house is 15′ by 15′. These units are a great size. They fit in most backyards. Also, these inflatables can be used for larger events, as they will fit more kids than a standard 13′ bounce house. These can often be found to rent for the same price as the smaller 13′ units as well. So why not get the bigger unit for the same price.
Once you go past the 15′ size you will be looking at inflatables that are more like play centers than bounce houses. These units often have inflatable character or obstacles inside of them. You will also be paying more for these larger pieces. Companies must charge more for them, as they take more staff and time to set up than a bounce house that is 15′ big.
The one other option you could consider is getting an inflatable combo unit. This unit is a little bigger than a 15′ bounce, but will still fit in most backyards. These are often about 2′ wider and 3-4′ longer than a standard bounce. They are great fun for kids though, as they combine a slide and bounce house all in one inflatable unit! Your kids will love these combos.
No matter what you end up deciding, when it comes to inflatables, just make sure to get a unit your kids will have fun on! You can’t go wrong with an inflatable bouncer.
