Why Plan a School Carnival?

A school carnival is a very essential piece to having a healthy and happy student body, PTO, and teaching faculty.  There are many benefits to planning a school carnival.

School carnivals encourage interaction with the community.

The school carnival, and the events that lead up to the carnival encourage great community support and promotion.  Telling your local shop owners and small businesses about the carnival and getting them involved in the promotion of the carnival at their places of businesses promotes great community involvement.  Perhaps some of them have a service they would like to market to the school or the parents of the students at the carnival.

School carnivals spur interaction between families.

Especially in elementary schools, where there are not as many sports events and extra-curricular activities, the school carnival or fall festival may be one of the only opportunities for the families of the students to meet each other and interact.  It is a really positive thing for this interaction to occur early in the school year at a fun event like a carnival.

School carnivals promote teamwork.

Planning a school carnival takes an great amount of preparation and coordination.  This planning effort can really help bring your PTO and other parent and teacher organizations together to achieve a common goal.  You will find some great leaders through this effort.

School carnivals are a GREAT fundraiser idea!

This is probably the number one reason why it is a great idea to organize a school carnival and go through the great lengths and efforts to do so.  Schools can raise thousands of dollars for their cause through a carnival or festival.  There are so many creative ways to raise money for a school at a carnival, the possibilities are nearly endless.

School carnivals are a great reward for your students.

Have your students achieved a goal like reaching “Excelling School” status or have they gone the extra mile in another effort?  Why not reward them with a carnival to celebrate?  This is a really fun way to show your support and appreciation for everything they have achieved!
