Why Plan a Company Picnic?

A company picnic is often one of the first things to be cut from a spending budget at a company, especially in tough economic times.  When these budgets are cut, it is up to the picnic organizer to make a case for keeping the picnic on the yearly schedule.  Here are some great suggestions for why a company picnic makes good business sense:

Company picnics build employee and company morale.

When time and energy is spent on throwing a fun company picnic it lets the employees know that you care about their morale.  Spending a little bit of money when they know that times are tough shows them that you understand there needs to still be a work and life balance in the workplace.

Company picnics encourage employees to interact.

Do your employees stay in their department silos most of their days?  Having a company picnic with fun activities to play at the picnic will encourage your employees to mix and mingle with others whom they may not normally talk with.  This interaction could lead to be productivity and morale on the job as well.

Company picnics mark achievements.

Has your team hit a sales milestone or production achievement at the facility or workplace?  A picnic celebration helps to show appreciation for all the hard work that your employees have put in to achieve that important milestone.  A company event is a very cost effective way to show your thanks for achieving something important.

Company picnics allow employees’ families to meet.

Allowing kids and spouses to come to the company picnic will help the employees build familiarity with one another.  This is good because it can make employees more comfortable around each other, which leads to happier workers.

Company picnics are good for a company’s bottom line.  Having a fun company event like a picnic or carnival is good for business!
