Grad Night Planning | After Graduation Parties
Graduation is an exciting time for high school seniors. The eternal days of high school, going to class and taking tests is finally over! “Senioritis” pains have been cured and it’s time to go to college or get a job in the real world. Graduation night can also be a scary time for the parents of high school seniors. How do you keep your new grads safe on graduation night, while allowing them to have a great time with their friends? The answer is simple, plan a “Grad Night Party”!
Successful Grad Night Parties or After-Graduation Parties usually consist of the following:
1. Self-Contained Area:
“Lock-Ins” in a school gym or large open area inside are best. This keeps the kids in one spot and keeps them out of trouble and under your watchful eye. The school gym is probably the most effective place to have a grad night party, but there are other venues such as skating rinks and auditoriums that may work for this purpose as well.
2. Food:
Teenagers love to eat! Be sure to have PLENTY of food at your grad night party, all night and through the morning. Provide a meal like pizza or sub sandwiches earlier in the evening. Then shortly after the meal start putting out finger foods like chips, candy, and other small treats for the kids to munch on through the night and into the morning. It is also a must to have plenty to drink such as punch, soda, and water.
3. Interactive Games:
Teens get bored quickly. Have interactive games at the grad night to keep their interest in the event. Interactive inflatables such as the inflatable boxing ring, joust, bungie run, and obstacle course will certainly keep them interested throughout the night.
Video games, board games, movies and other activities can keep your kids interested as well. Be sure you overload them with things to do, or your night will turn sour quickly with bored teenagers.
4. Publicize Event:
Be sure that you publicize your grad night all over school! Post the event on Facebook. Tweet the event to all your followers. Be sure to send notes to parents in their email inboxes and get the word out that your grad night is happening!
5. Volunteers:
Get parents to volunteer to help out at grad night. You will need parents inside and outside of the event. Kids will try to sneak away or get to the parking lot to their car. You need many sets of eyes and ears to ensure your grad night is a success.
A grad night should be a time for celebration and excitement. Help your kids make it an exciting time with a fun and positive atmosphere at your very own after graduation party.
