Corporate Team Builders in a Down Economy

During tough economic times companies often look to cut budgets at any possible opportunity.  They look to cut many of the “extras” out of the department budgets like lunches, trips, and team building events.

It makes sense to cut budget where necessary to survive for a short time.  However, a great business case can be made for continuing to have team builder events in a down economy.

Corporate team builders boost employee morale.

When employees take the time to build a cohesive team with their coworkers outside of the work environment a bond is formed beyond that of a typical coworker.  This bond boosts morale in the workplace because the employees will view each other as more than people who they see from the hours of 9 to 5.

Corporate team builders increase competition.

Why not motivate your employees to be more competitive with one another?  They should always strive to be the best worker, team, and department.  When they are competing in a team building activity you are encouraging them to be competitive and win!

Team builders get workers out of their comfort zones.

People get into comfort zones or ruts at work.  These ruts can lead to lower productivity and sub-par results.  Motivate your workers to want to come into work every day and be their best with a fun team building activity.

Workers must think “outside the box” at team builder events.

Many times the activities that people participate in at a team builder are events or activities that they have never done before.  These activities force them to think outside the box.  This goes back to breaking your workers out of their comfort zone.

Corporate team builders should not be taken out of your corporate budget.  The bottom line is that these team builders help you boost your bottom line!
