Tips for Choosing a Grad Night Venue
When you are planning a grad night for your high school graduates one of the most important things to get squared away is a venue for the grad night. Where you have your grad night is just as important as what you will have the kids do while they are there.
There are many places in Phoenix to have a great grad night. School gyms, community centers, and even some churches make great places to throw a grad night party. What specifically should you look for when considering different venues for your grad night? Perhaps the best way to think about this is to look at a few examples of venue types and choose which one fits your needs. We will also look at the positives and negatives of each venue type.
1. School Gymnasium. School gyms are great for grad nights, if they are large enough. Having a grad night in a gym is good because you can literally lock everyone inside the gym and not have to worry about your kids getting out and causing any trouble. Obviously you can’t lock people in, however you can post volunteers at each door to make sure kids don’t sneak out. Gyms that have multiple basketball courts are great because they are larger. Just make sure that the gym staff winds up the hoops prior to your night so that you can have large inflatables and other items inside the gym. If the gym has a wood floor you may be limited on the types of activities allowed inside. For example, you cannot have a mechanical bull inside a gym because it may scratch the flooring. Also, the gym may not allow you to have soda inside the gym because of the risk of spilling on the wood finish.
2. Community Centers. Some community centers make great grad night venues. The best possible setup would be one where they have indoor AND outdoor setup capabilities. This allows you to contain your kids inside while allowing them to get outside for some fresh air. Obviously it would be best if you could have a fenced-in outside area. This would keep your kids inside the grad night and out of areas like the parking lot or non-controlled areas of the property. If you have outside setup areas you can have items like the mechanical bull, climbing wall, and huge inflatable slides if the inside area is not tall enough. Then you can have things like inflatable jousting arenas sumo suits inside.
3. Churches. Churches can make excellent grad night venues. They often have large carpeted rooms such as fellowship halls that make great setup areas. Having a large carpeted room is awesome because it helps muffle noise from the kids and inflatable blowers. Often times the only limiting factor when looking at churches is ceiling height. This may limit you from a height standpoint for things like inflatable slides and climbing walls, but you can still have sumo suits and a bungee run and other interactive inflatables.
The grad night venue is one of the most important decisions you can make when planning a grad night. Just remember that you want a place that is secure and offers you a great level of flexibility when it comes to what you can do and what you can have in their venue. Be sure to clearly cover all details on what you want to do at your grad night and let the venue owners or management know what you plan on doing. You want all details to be covered before your night so that you can relax and throw the best grad night for your kids!
