Food Ideas for Grad Nights
We should all know that high school kids love to eat! It only makes sense then that you need to plan for having a lot of food at a graduation party or grad night.
Here are some great grad night food tips and ideas:
1. Know your audience
There are a few misconceptions about grad night food that some people make when planning their grad night meal or treats. The most common mistake that people make when planning the food for their night is that they go too fancy! Remember that you are catering to high school kids, not a room full of high ranking diplomats. You don't need to provide china and silver flatware for this meal. Fully plated five-course meals are not necessary. Remember this tip and it will make your food planning much easier.
2. Simple Food
Plan for simple food ideas that are easy to prepare in large quantities. High school kids can eat! Perhaps order pizza from a local pizza place that will cut a good deal for ordering in large quantities. Get two or three topping choices that everyone will like. Don't go too exotic. Plan for lots of chips, dip, and throw in some vegetable platters that you can buy at your local bulk store. Notice that none of the foods suggested require any sort of spoon, fork, or knife! Just provide napkins and plates and you are all set.
3. Snacks!
Be sure to plan on having a lot of snacks throughout the night. Snacks will help to keep your grad night rolling. Crackers, chips, veggie plates, candy, and anything with carbs and sugar in it are generally a good call. Just remember that is does not have to be very fancy! Keep it simple and you will thank yourself later.
4. Drinks
Have plenty of drinks on-hand for your grad night festivities. Replenish drink tubs and coolers throughout the night. Supply plenty of soda, juice, sports drinks, and WATER! Instead of supplying full-sized cans of soda, try giving out the smaller, half-sized sodas. Have water in a pourable drink cooler that will cut down on water bottles being scattered throughout the grad night venue.
